Watch Pokemon Shuffle in Action

Nintendo just can’t stop mixing its special sauce with mobile (well, technically, Pokemon is run by The Pokemon Company, but whatever). The free-to-play 3DS game is heading to mobile (it’s already out in Japan), and Lonnie has taken the upcoming game for a spin. Watch it above.

Reviews via Touch Arcade:

The Only Final Fantasy VII Review You Need to Read

Touch Arcade’s Shaun Musgrave is basically a walking JRPG encyclopedia. He’s given his thorough review treatment to Final Fantasy VII on iOS, and it’s just as fantastic and enlightening a read as you’d expect if you follow his work. You should read it from start to finish, but here’s an excerpt from the four-star review to get you started:

If you can take that all in stride, this is actually a perfectly serviceable version of Final Fantasy 7. The mini-games work well enough with the virtual controls, the loading times are greatly reduced as compared to the original PlayStation version, and all of the interesting new options from the Steam release of the game have been carried over. That means players who just want to zoom through and enjoy the story can press a button to max out every stat, flick off encounters, and cruise through. Similarly, expert players who want to make things a little spicier can now simply turn off encounters to keep their levels low rather than the tedious process of running away. For everyone in between, being able to flick encounters on and off is a small, but appreciated update. You’ll make it hard on yourself if you use it too much, but being able to double-back and check a different branch in a dungeon without getting slammed by meaningless encounters is pretty useful, as far as I’m concerned.

Pac-Man 256 Video Preview Shows Off the Game in Detail

Touch Arcade’s extensive stream of the upcoming Pac-Man 256 is a bit long, but packed full of yellow Pac-Man goodness.

My first impression of this game was how closely the game adhere’s to the original Pac Man visually and mechanically. Now sure there are some big time upgrades and the screen constantly scrolls rather than a fixed screen. Those differences don’t really detract from the old school 8 bit style still strongly popping out of this game. My first few seconds in the app were interupted with the original chiptuney melody Pac Man is famous for and from that point it has all been just nostalgia and great gameplay.

Calvino Noir Gets a New Trailer, Probably Releases August 27

Do you like film noir stealth games? You’re about to find out when Calvino Noir launches on the App Store. Touch Arcade has looked into its crystal ball and predicted that it will come out on August 27, just after its PS4 launch. From TA:

The developers also gave new information about the game, revealing that the voice actors for the game include Wolf Kahler, who played in Raiders of the Lost Ark, andAnthony Howell, who voiced a few characters in Dragon Age: Inquisition. As for gameplay details, the developers talked about the challenge of balancing telling and showing the relationships between characters, but they feel that the game’s writer, Dr. Dejan Levi, met that challenge in his 12,000 word narrative that mixes classical noir with more recent cultural references. The trailer shows a more zoomed-out view of buildings than the original clips we saw, and, according to the developers, they made this chance to better show off the dramatic architecture they’ve worked on. The game looks very nice, and I’m looking forward to trying it out when it releases.

First Trailer for The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land

The first trailer for The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land is out now. No Man’s Land is a strategy game that pits you against the shambling hordes of the undead (you were expecting to go up against puppies and kittens, maybe?).

The gameplay trailer has a very intense Daryl setting the very dramatic scene of a horrible world with no warm showers and no fast food joints; no wonder many just gave up and took the easy way out. The actual gameplay looks fun but predictable, with plenty of face-smashing and gut-shooting. Overall, it looks like a typical turn-based game, but I think its claim to glory will be how the zombie hordes can overwhelm your people, which will demand a different strategic tempo.
