Terry Cavanagh, the maker of Super Hexagon, has posted on his blog that he might port his excellent side-scrolling platformer VVVVVV to iOS. His exact quote is this: “I don’t know if it’ll ever happen, and I’m not promising anything– but I’m definitely thinking about it.”
VVVVVV on PC
VVVVVV is an extremely challenging PC game that came out last year and has been ported to Nintendo 3DS. The game plays like a 2D platformer, but instead of being able to jump, you can flip gravity. So if you’re walking on the ground and you come to a set of spikes, you can press the flip button to walk on the ceiling over the spikes. It’s a great gameplay mechanic, and VVVVVV makes excellent use of it.
Best of all, the controls should transfer fairly easily to the touchscreen, because all you need to do is move left, right, and flip. Cavanagh isn’t making any promises about bringing the game to iOS, but as fans of the PC version we certainly hope he does.
