Temple Run 2 hasn’t even existed for a full week, but the endless running game is already a massive hit. It reached the App Store’s top spot for free downloads within the first eight hours of life, and has been downloaded more than 20 million times as of January 22.
According to the game’s developers, Imangi, Temple Run 2 has already undergone 210 million sessions, which adds up to 1,775 years of gameplay. It’s currently also positioned at #3 amongst the App Store’s top earners, which isn’t a bad feat for a free-to-play game.
Imangi co-founder Keith Shepherd said, “The response from fans has been overwhelming. We are thrilled players want more of the Temple Run universe, and we hope to grow and expand the game over the coming months.”
Temple Run 2’s critically-acclaimed predecessor, Temple Run, was released in August 2011 and has been downloaded 170 million times from the App Store as well as Google Play and the Amazon Marketplace.
Our verdict on Temple Run 2: We think it’s awesomely outrageous.
