Brilliantly simple and original; complete objectives for lasting score multipliers; beautiful visuals that change every game
Only one mode
Tiny Wings is brilliant in its simplicity, originality, and ability to keep you coming back again and again.

Tiny Wings is what iOS gaming is about. The controls are easy to pick up, the graphics are crisp and colorful, and the addictive gameplay will keep you coming back for more. Plus, the concept of a bird with short wings using hills to launch itself into the air is absolutely adorable. There is a reason this game has risen to popularity overnight: it’s one of the best pick-up-and-play games you’ll find on the App Store, bar none.

The gameplay of Tiny Wings is done in the fairly common side-scrolling one button style. Your bird flaps his wings automatically, but touching the screen makes him dive bomb. The trick is to hold your finger on the screen to swoop onto the downward slope of a hill and release on the upward slope. Some slopes are lined with coins or contain a blue orb that boosts your speed. The catch is that nighttime approaches, so you must go fast enough to avoid it. If it catches you, you fall asleep and the game ends.

Dear mother nature: bigger wings would be nice.

The ground is divided up into "islands" that you make your way across. As you approach the end of an island, your bird will hit a large downward slope ending in a stream of coins and a huge chute that launches you to the next island. Each island is premade but differs in the depth and length of its curves as well as its visual style.

While the game only has one mode, an objective system allows you to permanently increase your points multipliers. Once you complete the three objectives-- and you don't have to complete them all in one run-- your multiplier will increase by two. These objectives are well varied, from performing a perfect dip after an island change to reaching a certain island without getting any blue orbs. This is a genius way to keep people playing.

Tiny Wings is also visually impressive, with a colorful art direction that is unique to this game. The environments, colors, and so forth vary every time you play. It’s subtle but effective.

Add to this leaderboards and achievements, and you’ll be playing Tiny Wings endlessly. We can’t recommend this game enough, especially at $.99. Seriously, just go buy it. This is the best bird game since Angry Birds, and we foresee it being a big hit for a long time.

    Some corrections:
The islands are not randomly created, they differ from each other, yes. But every little hill stays in place and shape every time you play this brilliant game. The design also doesn't change every session, it changes every day, just the colors and patterns though, but I really love that! Fantastic game that already stole hours and hours of my time.

Thanks for pointing that out. I actually meant to put that there in the first place. I've changed it above.

  2. your personal robot February 24th, 2011

And the multiplier upgrade ends at 28 ;)
I really like the fact that the level design stays the same, gives it an extreme arcade feel, where you try to remember every important point, try to improve the score bit by bit. It's so cool.

Fortunately it is cheap...Because after a while there are always the same things : colourfull and hills...boring!
    But...the bird is cute!lol

Yes, and Pac Man is boring too and Tetris and friends. Always just one level. Hunting the high score doesn't seem to motivate you. Then this game isn't for you.

    1. gwet17 February 24th, 2011

WELL SAID. I'm tired of people who consider themselves hardcore gamers saying this is boring.

  5. Battlecrafts February 24th, 2011

I never that I like Pac Man but Pac Man is just a classic so it is great!About Tetris isn't always the same and that makes your brain working...
But you're right Tiny wings isn't for me but for kids..No I'm just kidding! I just won't play it ;) :)

Oh, I was wrong. The landscape can and does alter. I was lucky to have to similar days in a row (where I could reach some pretty decent scores), but today some islands are different in details, although there is always kind of a pattern family per island. But wow, that's impressive, a different level each day!

Can anyone help me with "get to island 5 without speedcoins"? How do you get off the island without hitting the long strip of coins??

    1. Steve February 26th, 2011

        1. manol March 2nd, 2011

to get this objective, before you tap play, go to 'Options' and tap 'Flip Screen'. After that, play and try to reach the 5th island with the screen flipped.

          1. Hugo Santos May 30th, 2011

Yes! Ohh yes!! It works, thanks buddies!

I was just playing this game and I was having a bunch of trouble with the controls, then somehow I was just like "Oh. I got it." and I figured them out! Another thing I love about this game is that when you lose, your not like "$@&!@& This $@$$!& game!!!" your like "Whoa! That was fun! Again!!! :)

  17. Megabite March 9th, 2011

Another thing I love about this game is: I was feeling down in the dumps (I might have had deppression) and I felt like there was a big gaping hole in my life. Then, I played Tiny wings. Bam. All better! I feel like it's my life again! Thank you, Tiny Wings!
