Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner Announced

News Posted by Chris Reed, November 5th, 2010

You've already unleashed the force, served drinks on Tattooine, fought in the trenches of the Death Star, and defended an outpost on Hoth. But soon the war against the Empire is coming closer to home. A lot closer.

THQ has announced Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner, an augmented reality game that seats you in the gunner pit of the Millennium Falcon and lets you unload on TIE fighters and other Imperial bogies as they swarm the screen.

The game will come with plenty of pre-made backdrops that you can play against, as well as music and sound effects from the movies. But the interesting part is that Falcon Gunner can use your iDevice's camera to bring the enemies to whatever scene you happen to have in front of you while you play. This could be cool if you're looking at the New York skyline like in the video below, but it's probably less cool if you're in the waiting room at the doctor's office.

Expect to hear more about Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner as details are released in the coming weeks.
