Fling iPad Joystick Announced at CES

News Posted by Andrew Podolsky, January 4th, 2011

Are you one of those gamers who's constantly frustrated by the lack of "tactile feedback" when playing a game on the iPad with a virtual joystick? Accessory maker Ten One Design has a potential solution: A suction cup-backed, spiral-shaped joystick that sticks to your iPad's screen.

The Fling will be available at the end of January through Ten One Design's website, and comes in one of three colors (Ice, Ninja, and Ultraviolet) for $24.95. It also comes with a carrying bag that doubles as a screen cleaner.

Ten One Design recommends using the Fling with three specific games: Super Mega Worm, Meteor Blitz, and Across Age-- all fun titles. But we know there are many more virtual joystick games that could benefit from a real joystick, like Street Fighter IV, or Gameloft action games like Spider-Man: Total Mayhem or NOVA 2.

We hope to try out the Fling soon for ourselves, but in the meantime, check out this official video to give you an idea of how the thing looks in action.

that's stupid, there's no need for that, virtual controls are just perfect i don't see why the complaints, but whatever, if you wanna throw your money, be my guest.

Old farts in their late 20's? You gotta be kidding me.

Seriously though, you're right. Virtual controls suit me just fine (though I'm 36, which I guess would make me a fossil).

See, you're so old you got confused and replied to the wrong post. :P But seriously. I'm not that much younger than you. I'm 30. And if we can adapt to virtual controls, other people in our age group could at least try to adapt too.

The only people who seem to have a problem with virtual controls are the old farts in their late 20s and 30s who grew up with buttons and nobs on everything. Most teenagers don't seem to have a problem with virtual controls at all. Virtual controls are the future.

With many games and apps with custom controls, this could be very good
