Exclusive: Car Jack Streets 2 Officially Announced

News Posted by Tim Rattray, September 7th, 2009

With the original top-down GTA clone Car Jack Streets (which we gave a 4 in our review) and upcoming titles Tumblebugs and Astro Ranch, Tag Games is proving to be a tough competitor on the iPhone. Eager to stand on even ground with Gangstar and the recently announced GTA: Chinatown Wars port, the company has announced Car Jack Streets 2, which will put the title in a whole new perspective, quite literally.

Unlike its predecessor, the game will be displayed in a full 3D perspective a la GTA 3 and Gangstar. Some new features will include what Tag Games’s Paul Farley describes as “an awesome branching storyline and some seriously interesting characters.”

He also informed us that the latest installment in the series takes many lessons from its predecessor, like not forcing real-world timing on players. The last game required players to meet weekly payment deadlines when repaying your loan shark. Farley also stated “[we] are really moving away from all of the tired clichés of this genre and going in an all new direction context wise.”

Also, we were told that the game would implement Tag’s new social technology platform, Underwear, which is unlike the competition in that its features are meant to be seamlessly integrated into the game instead of seen by users. We will also get to try on Underwear in their upcoming Animal Crossing-style game, Astro Ranch. Farley told us they do not plan to license it out to other developers at this stage.

Tag Games is focusing on Astro Ranch at this time, so Car Jack Streets 2 will not be available until 2010. As more information comes out, we will let you know.

Yeah... Car Jack was fun for about 4hrs max of game play... the game seemed to drone on and on though... it became highly repetitive and BORING! Hope the new one has alot less cut and paste work.
