Single-player mode; board games work well on the iPad
Lack of options for multiplayer mode
Boggle would be great on the iPad if the single player options were available for multiplayer.

Why is the board game genre such a great fit for the iPad? Easy: local multiplayer. This iPad version of Boggle has an option-filled single player, but the multiplayer lacks the same depth.

If you’ve played any game where you string together adjacent letters to make words, then you know how to play Boggle. The idea is to make as many words as you can within three minutes. Single player allows you to play the game in its raw form or add some twists, including different time limits, a “panic flip” that changes the placement of letters every 20 seconds, and portal cubes where the first and last letters of every word you make swap places.

Stun, thrill, fun, bone...

Controlling the game is quite intuitive. You shake the device to shuffle the letter cubes at the start and drag across the letters to string them together. Tapping the first letter of the set allows you to clear your current string.

However, this version of the classic word game doesn’t have any options for multiplayer. You can play with up to four people and each take turns trying to find the most words, but there are no options for panic flip, portal cubes, or time restraints. Why did they take these fun extras out of the multiplayer version of the game? We have no idea. Unless this is addressed, we can’t recommend shelling out $4.99 for this game.
