Sega has dropped us a line to let us know what mobile games they’re gearing up to release on the App Store in the coming months. The most exciting announcements are a remastered version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, but the two other titles sound pretty interesting, too. Read on for details.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
This game has already been released for iOS, but Sega wasn’t completely satisfied with the result. So they’re giving this sequel the same treatment they gave the original Sonic game, meaning they’re putting it on the near-perfect engine they used for Sonic CD. This should please any fans of the franchise, especially because it will be a free update for anyone who already owns Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Look for this update next month.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
We loved us some Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, a kart racer that hit the App Store a couple of years ago. Transformed is a proper sequel that landed on other platforms last year. The twist to this game is that your vehicles can shape shift into planes or boats. It also sports four-player local and online races, which is always appreciated. Transformed will be released by the end of the year.
This multiplayer RPG springs from the mind of Masayoshi Kikuchi, who worked on games like Jet Grind Radio and the Panzer Dragoon series. Demon Tribe is a dark, demon-filled game that Sega promises “blends MOBA, card collecting, and action-RPG gameplay elements.” You can capture and fuse demons to create new sinister creatures, and hop online to play with or against others. Look for this game later this year.
Rhythm Thief & the Paris Caper
This European tale is a “rhythmic adventure.” You and your dog Fondue must search the streets of Paris to find clues about the disappearance of your father. The gameplay is music-based, so expect lots of rhythmic tapping and swiping as you work to solve the mystery. This title is coming early next year.
