Rovio, the maker of the Angry Birds series, has announced that its next game will be called Bad Piggies. The game will come out for iOS, Android, and Mac on September 27, with PC and Windows 8 versions following soon after. It will star the pigs from the Angry Birds series, but Rovio assures us that there will be “no slingshot in sight.”
We first got wind of a pig-centered Rovio game back in July, but we have a much better idea of what the game is about now, thanks to Rovio giving Fast Company a hands-on look at the game. According to Fast Company, the mobile versions of the game will cost $0.99. Here are some details about the gameplay:
The swine are stranded on a desert island and have to build vehicles and contraptions to make their way to the delicious eggs that they can’t seem to get enough of. Though there is a three-star mechanic at work, there are no birds in sight, and the pigs are bouncy, jovial, and downright likable–a far cry from the snorting, antagonizing characters from the Angry Birds installments.
Speaking with Fast Company, Petri Jarvilehto, the executive vice president of games at Rovio, said, ‘We consider this the launch of a new franchise.”
