Don’t waste your time waiting for your crush or significant other to surprise you with chocolate this Valentine’s Day! Instead, head on over to the App Store and grab a copy of Chocolatier: Decadence by Design. While the chocolate you create virtually may not be as satisfying as the real deal, it’ll spare you calories, stimulate your mind, and keep you amused for many more hours than a real box of chocolates.
Chocolatier: Decadence by Design is the third game in the Chocolatier series developed by PlayFirst, and the first that is native to the iPad. Both addicts and newbies (or shall we say, addicts-to-be) are bound to enjoy this game.
The chocolate cannon is armed and ready, sir.
Your goal is to assist in the Baumeister family in rebuilding their chocolate empire. You’re rewarded for your speed and agility in completing numerous time-management puzzles. Once you earn enough money, you can spend it on flights to exotic locales so you can find the best and rarest ingredients to make succulent treats.
If the 70+ decadent desserts you’re given recipes for don’t quite satisfy your hunger for innovation, you’re able to design, create, and name your own custom chocolates. The goal is to see how quickly you can advance from a young apprentice to a CEO, and shortly thereafter, mogul. The factory challenges adjust according to your skill level, but there are plenty of exercises to keep even the most skilled players intrigued.
When we release the chocolate, these bastards won’t know what hit ‘em.
Even if you haven’t played any of the Chocolatier games before, you won’t experience much difficulty when immersing yourself into gameplay. This is because the game incorporates hints and tips in the dialogue you have with other characters. The plot thickens over time as you build relationships with characters and interact with them to achieve your goals. This part of the game is very entertaining, and likely to appeal to a wide spectrum of players, ranging across many age groups and skill levels.
Although numerous empire-building games exist out in the App Store, we found that this one offered a unique approach to this style of gameplay with a fascinating plot and delicious story. We truly hope PlayFirst adds Game Center integration in future updates to the app, as we feel it would enhance an already successful game. As is, we’ve truly enjoyed it and we recommend that you check it out, especially if you don’t end up getting your dream box of chocolates this Valentine’s Day.
