This is the last week in 2012 before Apple stops taking new submissions to the App Store, and one major game will be missing its original release window. After emailing EA for a comment on the status of the highly-anticipated Real Racing 3, they informed us that the game has been pushed back to a late February 2013 release date.
Here’s the official statement from EA Mobile:
Our goal for Real Racing 3 is to create an experience that resets the bar for racing games on mobile, and we wanted to take some extra time to get it right. We look forward to releasing Real Racing 3 and all its new features such as Time Shifted Multiplayer, plus dozens of new cars and tracks, by the end of February.
We’re disappointed that we won’t be playing Real Racing 3 this week, but we’d rather see them get it exactly right. Real Racing 1 and 2 were both highly praised by this site, and expectations are equally lofty for the third installment.
To tide you over until February, here’s our interview with Rob Murray from Fire Monkeys, the studio that’s developing Real Racing 3. In our interview, he points out some of the stunning details that you can spot in the latest trailer.
