For gamers of a certain age, playing Leisure Suit Larry was a rite of passage. Before the internet, it was one of the only ways our generation could view pixelated female forms, with adult humor that seemed more in-line with a novelty shop than a video game. Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded is the iOS (and PC) remake of that groundbreaking game, and after our hands-on time with it (not like that, you pervert!) we felt an equal amount of attraction and repulsion to this sleazy adventure game.

Siegecraft TD Hands-On Preview
We were big fans of Siegecraft when it came out in 2011. The follow-up, Siegecraft TD, looks like it could be just as good– although totally different. Instead of flinging projectiles at incoming enemies, you set up towers to ward them off. That’s standard for a tower defense game, but Siegecraft TD adds a unique twist with its genre mash-up multiplayer mode. Read More
Best of the Mobile Speed Pitch at GDC
Yesterday at GDC, Slide To Play had the pleasure of sitting in on a new kind of press event. The Big Indie Pitch allowed two dozen indie iOS developers to show off their new and upcoming games to the press, five minutes at a time. The event was set up like speed dating– developers rotated around to different tables on cue, to see if any special connections could be found. Here are what we consider to be the highlights of the event.
Exiles: Far Colony Hands-On Preview
Exiles: Far Colony is the next big RPG from Crescent Moon. Most of their RPGs so far have been rooted in fantasy worlds full of swords and spells. Think Aralon and Ravensword. Exiles is different. Inspired by Star Wars, Bladerunner, and Dead Space, Exiles puts players in control of a hero on a faraway desert planet. Your job, naturally, is to save humankind. Read More

If you’ve played the mind-bending iPad game Wonderputt, then you know developer Damp Gnat has a unique way of looking at the world. Their next game is called iCycle. Armello Hands-On Preview
Armello is the video game version of a board game, but you won’t find the board game on store shelves. That’s because it doesn’t exist. Developer League of Geeks knew they wanted to make a strategy game for iOS and other platforms, but they wanted to make sure the game mechanics were solid before they started programming. Read More

Framed Hands-On Preview
One of our most anticipated hands-on demos at GDC was for Framed, an upcoming mystery game with a completely unique gameplay mechanic. Instead of directly controlling your character as he uncovers dead bodies and tries to run from the police, you have to rearrange the panels of his comic-book environment to change the order of his actions.
Space Hulk Hands-On Preview
We’ve been excited to play Space Hulk since Games Workshop announced that Full Control was bringing the classic board game to iOS. So naturally we made a bee-line to Full Control’s booth at GDC to get a first-hand look at the game in action. Read More
Fish Out of Water Hands-On Preview
It’s been over a year since Halfbrick has released a new game on the App Store. Instead, they’ve expanded their blockbuster hit Fruit Ninja to arcades, home consoles, board games, plush toys, and more. Halfbrick’s next game Fish Out of Water, just announced at GDC, also has the potential to become a hit, due to its enjoyable art style, and extremely easy pick-up-and-fling mechanics.
Tengami Hands-On Preview
PAX 2013 has a strong indie gaming presence this year, especially in the mobile gaming space. While walking the floor today, we had the pleasure of spending time with Tengami, an adventure game that utilizes Japanese-style art modeled as a pop-up book. Read More
