Oceanhorn Prototype Accidentally Released Last Night

The developers of the highly anticipated game Oceanhorn say that an early prototype of the game was accidentally released on the New Zealand App Store last night. When they caught the mistake this morning, they removed the game.

If you purchased the unfinished game, you can get a refund from Apple by following the directions on Cornfox & Brothers’ blog. The reason for the mistake, they say, is that Apple requires developers to submit a playable version of a game in order to reserve the game’s title on the App Store. The version they submitted to secure the name Oceanhorn is a year and a half old, and it certainly shows in the screenshot of the demo that they’ve labeled “Screenshot of shame”:

Compare that to the new screenshots they just posted of Oceanhorn in its current state:

Oceanhorn, you’ve come a long way, baby. For more information on Oceanhorn, check out our developer Q&A here. We’re looking forward to the game’s actual release, whenever that may come this year. From the looks of it, it’ll be worth the wait.
