Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon Details Emerge

Strategy game developer Slitherine has announced that they’re working on a game called Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon that will be released for PC and iOS. The game will be based on the Battle for Armageddon setting of the table-top game, so it will have Imperial Forces face off against an Ork army for control of the Imperial hive world Armageddon.

Confused? Don’t worry, the game will be a standard hex-based strategy game that takes place over 30 missions. But that’s not to say it’s not for serious gamers. It features over 100 unit types, each with customizable stats, and a multiplayer mode that may very well be cross-platform.

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is one of several in-progress games based on Games Workshop properties. Space Hulk and Warhammer Quest are also slated to be released in the coming year.

  1. Ok – so this is a game that can actually use IAP correctly. First, release the game with 2 classes, each with its own story arc – so basically you get two campaigns and multiplayer. Then (later) allow players to purchase other classes which come with their own campaign for a reasonable price. I’d say that $1.99-$4.99 for the initial game and $0.99-$1.99 for each additional class/campaign would be more than fair. This way they can release the game more quickly and add in content as it develops.

IAP should function to prolong a game’s life on your device (by adding replay value or even more levels/missions), not impinge on the core gameplay.
