Rumor: Apple Looking at Bigger Screens for iPhone

It’s not likely that humanity will ever join hands and live in harmony, but at least we can envision a future wherein the smartphone and the tablet become one. According to rumor, Apple is looking into engineering iPhones that have 4.7 and 5.7-inch screens, thereby allowing the iPhone to compete more directly with Samsung’s Galaxy series of smartphones. Sources have also reportedly told Reuters that Apple is looking into distributing a cheaper model of iPhone that would come in different colors.

According to Reuter’s sources, Apple is looking to introduce the larger iPhones sometime next year. Suppliers have supposedly been approached about the new phones, but as one supposedly savvy supplier pointed out, Apple constantly changes specifications at the last moment, so it’s almost impossible to say when a prototype is final.

There have also been rumblings about Apple looking to release a cheaper line of iPhones that may cost somewhere in the $99 range. The line will reportedly utilize plastic casing that comes in multiple colors. Given how long the iPhone has been a black-or-white device, it’s hard to envision it in a rainbow of colors.
