Rovio to Release ‘Angry Birds Toons’ Series Right in their Games

Soon, Where’s My Water? won’t be the only iOS gaming franchise to have launched a cartoon series. Rovio is planning to debut their weekly Angry Birds Toons show on March 17. They had previously been vague about how the show would be distributed, but they’ve just announced that you’ll be able to watch the series from within their Angry Birds games.

The company plans to update their Angry Birds games to add a video channel to the menus. Rovio CEO Mikael Hed says, “With over 1.7 billion downloads, we can reach a far wider and more engaged global audience than traditional distribution would allow.” The company plans to release 52 episodes, once a week, starting March 17. The pilot episode, however, will be available for early viewing starting March 16.

And if you’re one of the rare people who haven’t downloaded an Angry Birds game yet, you can grab up the original for free, right here.
