Mind-Bending Game ‘Alfa-Arkiv’ Released

If you’re looking for a creepy, mind-bending rabbit hole to plunge down this weekend, look no further than the new iPad game Alfa-Arkiv. It’s a story/game/multimedia experience that I’ve spent the past few hours obsessing over. You can download it here for free.

Alfa-Arkiv is basically a collection of document scans, photos, and videos that you view and read to discover the game’s story. It starts out with scans of documents written in Russian that you can translate with the flick of a switch. Reading the documents clues you in to a story of a female terrorist who’s brought into Russian custody after an attempted suicide bombing.

After you read a lengthy written confession that only opens up new questions, things start to get weird. I won’t spoil it for you, but if you’re interested in a pretty crazy and creepy experience, give this game a shot. It even asks you to install a Chrome extension in your computer’s browser and directs you to outside websites to learn more of the story.

After viewing a few documents, the game throws up a paywall and asks for a $2 in-app purchase. But by then you’ll probably be so sucked into the story you’ll want to find out what happens next.

Why haven’t you said anything about the new modern combat. I bought it and it is amazing.
