Hearthstone Soft Launches on Select App Stores

Good news, lovers of great games: Blizzard’s World of Warcraft-themed collectable card game Hearthstone has soft launched for iPad in a few areas around the world. Unfortunately, it’s currently limited to the App Stores in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Blizzard says it’s coming “soon” to the rest of the world..

The game is kind of like a simpler version of Magic: The Gathering, but the cards leave plenty of room for any kind of strategy you can come up with. The art is especially fantastic.

Hearthstone is already out for PC and Mac, so you can play it there if you don’t have an App Store account in any of the territories it’s available. (Pro tip: a quick Google search will pull up instructions on how to create an account in one of those App Stores).

I’ve been playing it all morning, and it’s just as crazily fun and insanely addictive as ever. The first thing you do is sign into your Battle.net account, and you pick up right where you left off on your computer. We’ll keep you posted when we hear about the game releasing for the rest of the world.

  1. Anyone who’s given this a shot on iPad, do you have to enter your authenticator code to log into your battle.net account? Considering I use mobile authenticator on the iPad, this would be a serious pain.

    • I’m in No America, so I haven’t had a chance to try it on iPad yet, but my guess is yes, you will need to enter your authenticator code. It’s required for the PC version, I can’t imagine it wouldn’t be for the iPad. It shouldn’t be a hassle at all though, just copy and paste the code from the Authenticator. If you hold your finger down on the code it gets copied to the clipboard.
