Gameloft Tries New Pricing Model With Sacred Odyssey

If the New Zealand release is any indication (and it almost certainly is), Gameloft is trying a new pricing model for its Zelda-like action RPG Sacred Odyssey: Rise of Ayden. Instead of charging you the full amount up front, Gameloft has released the game as a free app that lets you play the first 15 minutes without paying. At that point, you’ll be prompted to pay $6.99 to unlock the rest of the game to continue.

We’ve reached out to Gameloft to verify this for the U.S. release, and to see if they’ll be using this pricing model on their upcoming games, like StarFront: Collision. In any case, look for the game on the App Store tonight at 11 p.m. EST.

By the way, we should note that if you buy the game, you’ll still be able to play it on multiple devices as long as you’re using the same iTunes account. If you’ve already downloaded it on one device, it will let you download it for free when you tap to purchase the content on another one.
