Zombie Gunship

Manning a gunship can give you a huge ego boost, because it makes you feel like an all-powerful deity to rain mortar shells down on the tiny specks of humanity on the ground below. In the case of Zombie Gunship, however, the undead apocalypse has started, and you’re tasked with protecting a human stronghold from never-ending hordes of zombies. You don’t want to let down your fellow humankind, do you?

Our Score: 3 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: It may become repetitive before long, but Zombie Gunship offers great zombie-shooting fun while it lasts.

Wind-Up Knight

Auto-runners are everywhere on the App Store, but hardly any are as good as Wind-Up Knight, a game that puts you in control of a clockwork knight on a quest to save a princess from an evil wizard. Unfortunately, between you and the maiden stand enemies, spike pits, low-hanging ceilings, and more, which you have to navigate by attacking, jumping, and rolling at just the right moment. The graphics, the charm, and the responsiveness of the controls make Wind-Up Knight stand out in a sea of similar titles.

Our Score: 4 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: Wind-Up Knight is a tough but rewarding running game with excellent production values.

Jaws Revenge

If you had asked us, before Jaws Revenge came out, what a developer could do to make a Jaws game appealing, we probably would have said, “Let us play as the shark.” That’s exactly what you get to do in Jaws Revenge, and it’s just as fun as we imagined. Chomping through fish, swimmers, skiers, and practically anything else in the ocean that’s edible is an exceptional way to spend time. It’s definitely not safe to go in the ocean.

Our Score: 3 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: Dun-dun. Dun-dun.

Bug Heroes Quest

Bugs on their own aren’t very exciting– in fact, they’re usually pretty gross– but when you hand them miniature weapons and watch them go to war, the excitement level ratchets up quickly. In Bug Heroes Quest, you participate in miniature dual-stick mayhem, slaying enemy bugs and exploring enormous environments like tabletops and kitchen counters. It’s silly, it’s stylish, it’s fun, and for a limited time it’s free.

Our Score: 4 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: A captivating spin-off of the original Bug Heroes game that’s sure to appeal to both new and old players of all ages and skill levels.
