Flappy Bird to Return, ‘But Not Soon’

Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen has confirmed on Twitter that he will bring back the popular, hyper-challenging game to the App Store at some point–”But not soon.” The game, which saw soaring popularity in January and reportedly earned Nguyen up to $50,000 per day, also brought a lot of unwanted publicity to the developer and “ruined” his simple life. He removed the game from the App Store in February.

The game’s removal has resulted in countless clones hitting the App Store and Google Play Store, to the point that Apple and Google have both cracked down and begun denying submissions with the word “Flappy” in the title.

We weren’t crazy about the game– check out our review– but anytime an iOS game hits it as big as Flappy Bird, we’re interested to find out why. We should also note that we’ve played a lot of the Flappy Bird clones, and none of them we tried have managed to make the controls feel as “right” as the original.

You can count on one thing: As soon as Flappy Bird comes back online, we’ll let you know.
