Square Enix has just announced on their Facebook page that Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions has been delayed to spring 2011. The reason they give is is that they needed extra time for “improving the UI and playability.”
This will come as disappointing news to anyone looking forward to the game’s iOS release, but we would certainly rather wait for a more playable product than get served an undercooked one. (Although we can’t help thinking that if they’d ditched the completely unnecessary Voice Fantasy, we could be playing Tactics right now). Check out some new screenshots below, and click the link to their Facebook page for details on the UI.
Final Fantasy titles have been brought out on the iPhone at a steady clip lately, and the trend continues with the announcement that the PSP game Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions will be hitting the App Store sometime this year. Check out the teaser trailer below.
The War of the Lions hit the PSP in 2007 to very positive reviews. It was an update to the original, now classic, Playstation game Final Fantasy Tactics, with all of the deep turn-based strategy elements that made the game a hit. It also added new CG sequences, jobs, and storylines, as well as co-op and head-to-head multiplayer.
Other than “sometime in 2010,” no release date has been set, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more about Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions.
