Contra: Evolution Removed from App Store

Not long after appearing on the U.S. App Store, Contra: Evolution– a remake of the NES/arcade classic– is no longer available. I spoke with Tristan Kruth, from the PR company covering the game. Turns out, the game was released accidentally. Read the full reply below.

The version that was (briefly) available was the version built for the Chinese app store, but CocoaChina is building a version optimized and translated for Western audiences. They’re still in the development stage of that version, but the plan is to launch it at some point later this year.

So there you have it. Look for the official localized version of Contra: Evolution later this year. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.

  1. Interesting… I didn’t get a chance to play the game, but heard it was a little rough around the edges. I guess this explains that somewhat. For the people who did download it, can they still play or is it gone?

  2. sounds like a cheap promo stunt to me… cos there’s loads of steps in between production and putting it live :P
