Blizzard Announces Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft

Not to be outdone by yesterday’s unveiling of Magic 2014, Blizzard has just announced that they’re releasing a free-to-play strategy card game of their own, based on the Warcraft universe. It’s called Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, and it’s coming to PC, Mac, and iPad later this year. You can watch the trailer and a developer diary below.

Each player’s deck will center around a hero from one of the nine warcraft classes. Your cards will represent things like weapons, spells, and minions. You can play against a computer opponent, or real people over Battle.net. You’ll be able to assemble your deck using cards you’ve crafted, won from other players, or bought in booster packs. The beta will be available this summer; you can sign up for it here.
