Big Game Night: Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes and More

It’s Wednesday, and that means big games are about to hit the App Store! Tonight, iOS gamers will be able to download an enormous strategy game, a gorgeous word puzzler, and a crazy-looking kart racer. Read on for descriptions of the games and New Zealand App Store links, which will direct you to the US App Store after the games launch at 8pm PST.

Might & Magic Clash of Heroes

Ever since its release on Nintendo DS three years ago, Might & Magic Clash of Heroes has offered a unique mix of RPG mechanics, Match-3 puzzling, and chess-like gameplay. The version coming to iOS tonight is a gorgeously revamped HD upgrade. It features a lengthy single-player campaign, one-on-one multiplayer, and an all new asynchronous multiplayer mode. To say we can’t wait to play this game is an understatement.

Cracking Sands

If you like Mario Kart (and who doesn’t?) you might want to check out Cracking Sands, a post-apocalyptic kart racer from the makers of Reckless Getaway. In it, you select your character, choose a car, and load it up with an array of weaponry, all in an attempt to be the last automobile on the road. With a single-player campaign and an online multiplayer mode, Cracking Sands looks to offer a lot of bang for your buck.

Half-Inch Heist

In Half-Inch Heist, you steal a precious diamond from the evil Dr. Puss, and your job is to play keep-away from the robotic minions he sends to get it back. To do that, you simply drag your finger across the screen to avoid enemies and defeat bosses. The game sports retro-style graphics and a thumping chiptune soundtrack. To top it off, it’s free to play.

Banana Kong

Banana Kong puts you in control of a gorilla on the run from an avalanche of bananas. It’s an auto-runner, so your main concerns are when to jump, when to glide, and how to hop on a boar or toucan as you make your way through jungles, caverns, and treetops. The graphics look great, the controls seem smooth, and the whole thing is presented with polish and flow.

Tumblewords

Tumblewords is a Boggle-like word game that you can play by yourself or with friends. The game has power-ups that help you string together long words for high scores, and a “tumble” mechanic that we assume mixes up the letters. With unique art and wordsmithy gameplay, Tumblewords promises plenty of fun for puzzle fans.

Meh… when’s Ocean Horn or Infinity Blade Dungeons coming out?

  • Jimbob

Clash of Heroes is the NUTS. Played it on both PC and Xbox. Single player is OK, but multiplayer is awesome. I really hope they’ve ported it well.

Some good titles, but I seriously can’t wait for Oceanhorn ;)
