Big Game Night: LEGO Star Wars Microfighters and More

We love Wednesdays around here because tonight is Big Game Night on the App Store! Lots of developers will release their best new games at 11 p.m. Eastern time this very evening. We’ve looked through the new releases and picked the best of the best below. So click ahead for a peek at what’s coming, and plan your purchases now.

Bloodstroke

From the kung fu mind of director John Woo comes an unlikely thing: an iOS game. As you’d expect, it’s a blood-soaked affair (splashed across the black-and-white art). Your job is to protect a doctor as you make your way through a sea of bad guys. Everyone loves escort missions in games, right?

Hidden Files: Echoes of JFK

Here’s a new one: a hidden picture game based on the JFK assassination. You play as an FBI agent investigating the death of a journalist who was trying to crack the 55 year-old case. You do so by finding hidden objects in complex environments.

Lego Star Wars: Microfighters

Here’s a cool thing: A top-down shooter based on Star Wars and Legos. You can play as the good guys or bad guys, piloting X-wings, the Millennium Falcon, TIE fighters, or a Star Destroyer. With 18 levels from the movies and tons of stuff to collect and destroy, this game has a whole lot of potential.

Pyro Jump

One-tap games are often great on the touchscreen, and Pyro Jump looks nice and flashy. You control a flame that jumps from spinning wheel to spinning wheel. Time your jumps right to make your way to the princess at the end of each level. Just be careful not to burn her.

Rocket Robo

You want a colorful game starring a floating robot? Of course you do. Rocket Robo is a sharp-looking action puzzle game, with lots of content and plenty of innovative gameplay.

Trambo

I’m a sucker for retro-style platformers, and that’s exactly what Trambo is. It doesn’t look as polished as favorites like Mos Speedrun or Mikey Hooks, but it may be worth checking out.
