Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Arriving on iOS

When Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition was pulled from the App Store a few months ago, we all thought the worst for the franchise. Would mobile users ever see updates to fix the glaring problems of the initial release? Would Baldur’s Gate 2 ever see the light of day?

A couple of weeks ago we received our answer to the first question, after Overhaul Games sorted out all of their legal knots. Then, as of last Friday, we finally have an answer about the sequel. Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition will be coming to the PC and Mac in November, with mobile versions to launch shortly afterwards.

Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition will feature both of the expansion packs, Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal, with four new characters available as DLC, and a new Black Pits arena as well. All in all, this is a pretty packed release, and it’s exciting news all around.

You can check out the announcement on the forums here,  then head on over to the official site for the game here. If you want to know why we’re so excited to play more Baldur’s Gate, check out our review of the first Baldur’s Gate for the iPad from last year.

  1. Beamdog still hasn’t addressed the noticeable bugs from their first Baldur’s Gate app. No way in hell am I buying anything else from them until they fix what I’ve already paid money for.

    • Yes, but did you not see my previous article from a couple of weeks ago where I mentioned that they were doing precisely that? Now that they have their legal woes all sorted out, they’re focusing on patching up the first one.

      • They’ve been saying that since it was released last year. I still feel burned for buying their $10 app and then blowing a bunch of money on their extra characters and audio IAP in the first few days. Shame on me for trusting that they’d release a complete product on day one.

Yeah, and I’m still a little bitter over it too. Baldur’s Gate is the holy grail of RPGs. To be bothered by all these problems was a major letdown for me.

        • I was just about to buy this NEW version (having NOT bought or played the 1st on an iOS platform), but after reading YOUR comments here … Mmm, I think I’ll hold off.
(guess, I’ll stick to Dungeon Hunter 4 & await Infinity Blade 3’s release)
