Soon after posting the article below, the Walking Dead feature slot in iTunes was taken down. We got a screenshot, though, so click ahead to see what it looked like, and what it will presumably look like again when the game actually comes out for iOS. Does this mean Episode 1 is coming out next week? We’ll let you know as soon as we hear.
Whoops. We just happened to be clicking through the “Games” section in iTunes when we noticed something unusual. The rotating feature slot today shows a promotion for The Walking Dead adventure game for iOS, but the game isn’t out yet. Clicking the image brings you to the iTunes page for The Dark Knight Rises. No release date has been announced for The Walking Dead on iOS, although the game is available on other platforms.
Like other recent Telltale adventure games, including Back to the Future and Jurassic Park, The Walking Dead will be released in five installments or “episodes.” So far, none have been released for iOS, and only Episodes 1 and 2 have been released for PC, Mac, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. On those platforms the episodes have been getting mostly positive reviews, and we’re looking forward to getting a chance to play it on iOS.
The accidental iTunes feature slot boasts an “Editor’s Choice” label along with the following text: “This adventure game vividly captures the hit TV series with intense decisions and intriguing exploration.”
We’ll keep you posted as we hear news of a release date for the iOS version. Oh, and Apple, you might want to take down that feature slot now until you’re ready to release the game.
