We have more details from CNET about how the Mighty Eagle fits into the current Angry Birds game. As Rovio CEO Mikael Hed explained, players will be able to purchase the Mighty Eagle as a one-time special ability that will complete any level. The goal is to help stuck players get past any frustrating stages.
Microtransactions like this shouldn’t be a surprise to regular iPhone gamers. As long as we don’t start seeing levels that are impossible or unreasonably difficult to beat without paying for assistance, we’re fine with casual players having the option to shell out a little extra. As to the Mighty Eagle, though, we don’t think we’ve seen the last of him.
We recently received word of a brand-new trailer set in the world of Angry Birds, and starring the newest bird, The Mighty Eagle. Check out the trailer after the jump!
We actually spoke to Rovio’s Mighty Eagle a few weeks ago, but all he’d tell us is that the next Angry Birds game wouldn’t be Angry Birds 2, but a spin-off set in the same world. if we had to guess, we’d say that the gameplay will be a departure from the slingshotting physics puzzles of Angry Birds.
Any guesses as to what’s in store for Angry Birds? Maybe a Glyder-style aerial combat game? Let us know what you think in the comments.
