Modern Combat 5, what is surely to be one of the best FPS games on iOS is due out this week. Last week I got a chance to sit down for a couple hours and play multiplayer with Jared from TouchArcade and some fine Gameloft folks.
Google has brought their very popular location based game Ingress to iOS today. Ingress is a game played by two factions that battle for territory in real world locations.
Who loves a great deal? The answer is everyone. And what better kind of great deal is there than a great deal on a great game? None. It doesn’t exist. So check out our hand-picked sales and freebies below, and download any one of these great games this weekend. (more…)
Good news, Planeswalkers and collectable card game fans: Magic 2015 for iPad has been released on the App Store (a week ahead of the PC version, no less). You can download the game here for free. Just like last year, however, that only unlocks the tutorial. Playing the full game requires a $9.99 in-app purchase. (more…)
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, a great-looking 3D puzzle game called Back To Bed will land on iOS in late August. The developers have just released a new trailer that shows off the unique gameplay. It’s reminiscent of the excellent Monument Valley, but takes it in a new direction. (more…)
One of our favorite puzzle games is free this week — if you go to into a Starbucks, that is. That’s right, Threes is the Starbucks app of the week, so each location should have a stack of cards on the counter, each with a promo code to download a copy of the game for free. Ask that barista you have a crush on for details. (more…)

You can download the delicious game collection, called Denny’s Atari Remix, here for free. (more…)
Tsum Tsum (pronounced soom soom) is the first big publisher game to try to bring social networking based games using LINE to the US. It’s big in Japan, will it be big here?
Line, WeChat, and KakaoTalk are messaging apps that are huge in Asia. Users see them as a replacement for email, SMS, messaging of all kinds. But none of these apps have really caught on here in the US. Over the top stickers and graphics, and deeper games integration than what Facebook allows are key points to these networks. While game integration is key and one of the most interesting features of these messaging apps letting players see what their friends are playing, high scores, etc. Much more game and social focused than anything I’ve seen on Facebook.
To help make sure we don’t forget it’s heading our way “this summer,” Gameloft has dropped us a line to key us in on some hot new graphical effects they’re packing into Modern Combat 5: Blackout. But for all the extra hotness to show up on your screen, you have to be rocking a “higher end” device, which probably means a latest-edition iPhone or iPad. For a glimpse of what they’re talking about, read on. (more…)
