Tsum Tsum (pronounced soom soom) is the first big publisher game to try to bring social networking based games using LINE to the US. It’s big in Japan, will it be big here?

Line, WeChat, and KakaoTalk are messaging apps that are huge in Asia. Users see them as a replacement for email, SMS, messaging of all kinds. But none of these apps have really caught on here in the US. Over the top stickers and graphics, and deeper games integration than what Facebook allows are key points to these networks. While game integration is key and one of the most interesting features of these messaging apps letting players see what their friends are playing, high scores, etc. Much more game and social focused than anything I’ve seen on Facebook.

In this Hatch update, players can take their virtual pet and play with it in the game Ooga Jump from Bolt Creative (the Pocket God folks). And this isn’t just a little mini-game inside Hatch, it’s taking a virtual pet and moving it the full Ooga Jump game and playing with it there. (more…)

Wikipad has announced a new iPad mini MFi controller, The Gamevice

Gamevice-iPadMini.106

Wikipad has announced a MFi version of their controller for the iPad mini called the Gamevice. The full spec controller has dual analog sticks, a d-pad, and eight buttons spread between two pieces that surround the ends of the iPad mini. On the pre-release model I saw the halves were connected together by a thick elastic band that allowed the controller halves to easily hold on to the iPad mini.

Price or release details haven’t been announced yet, but Wikipad is targeting a release before the holiday shopping season. It looks like an interesting addition to the ever expanding range of MFi controllers. Now, if more developers would just add support for them! You can sign up at the Gamevice site to get more info on the controller.
