Venan Entertainment today announced Ninjatown: Trees of Doom!, their latest game for the iPhone and iPod Touch in collaboration with designer toy studio Shawnimals. You might recognize Venan from their previous game, Space Miner: Space Ore Bust, which came out earlier this year.
Ninjatown: Trees of Doom! is a high-score game where the character of Ol’ Master Ninja must run vertically between two trees, jumping to avoid enemies and obstacles. Some of these include other characters from the Shawnimals franchise, which might be familiar to anyone who has played the Nintendo DS Ninjatown game.
Series creator Shawn Smith told Gamepro that the Ninjatown iPhone game would be controlled entirely by swipes and flicks, instead of through tilt like its inspiration Doodle Jump. Shawn also cited Canabalt as an influence on the game’s design.
Ninjatown has integrated Plus+ technology for global leaderboards and awards, and also Facebook and Twitter support for those who like to share their high scores and progress with friends. Watch out for our review of Ninjatown: Trees of Doom! when it hits the App store in a couple weeks at the price of $1.99.
