As we approach the end of the year, more big brand-name games are expected to launch on a weekly basis. Even if you don’t have any credit in your iTunes account, you can still download at least three of them right now. Read on for more details about the latest big-name IPs for iOS.
DuckTales: Scrooge’s Loot
To accompany the recent release of DuckTales: Remastered on Xbox Live Arcade, Disney has released a free-to-play multiplayer shooter for iOS. You play as a young duck trying to recover Scrooge’s fortune, which has been stolen and placed in giant piles in four different locations. In each match, you and your teammates have to gather the gold while fighting the other team with plunger launchers, spitballs, and tennis rackets. The twin-stick controls work surprisingly well, and the graphics are quite good for a freemium shooter, so give this one a download if you enjoy either DuckTales or team-based shooters like Team Fortress 2.
You Don’t Know Jack: Party
You Don’t Know Jack, a quiz game known for its clever questions, first launched as an iPhone game last year. This free party mode version lets you use AirPlay to view the questions, while players can use their individual iOS devices to buzz in their answers. You can also purchase additional question packs separately. While the app is free, the cost of all those devices can add up, so it seems like this is a novelty intended for anyone who tried to play Scrabble using separate iOS devices as a virtual tile rack.
Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2: Foodimal Frenzy
We were skeptical that the original Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs book could sustain a full movie, but it seems like there was enough for a second serving in both theaters and on your iOS device. Foodimal Frenzy is a free Match-3 game from Playfirst, who created the Diner Dash series as well as the recent Mortal Instruments tie-in game. You have to swipe to connect groups of food-animal hybrids, sort of like harvesting wheat and chickens in Puzzle Craft.
