Remember Mecho Wars, the oddball turn-based strategy game from developer Luc Bernard? In December, Mecho Wars is finally getting a sequel with Mecho Wars: Desert Ashes, and we have exclusive new details about what you can expect.
Mecho Wars: Desert Ashes will pick up where the original story left off and features a new villain, the Desert Witch, whom Bernard describes as having a ‘very interesting backstory’. For those who never played the original, a remake will generously be bundled in.

While Bernard wasn’t willing to reveal any new gameplay mechanics, he told us that Mecho Wars: Desert Ashes will launch with support for online multiplayer, Airplay, and iCloud. Owners of iOS devices large and small will be happy to know that the game will also be a universal app.
As you can see from the concept art below, the visual design is signature Luc Bernard, which is to say, creepy and insane. The animations in Desert Ashes are improved upon the original, as you can see in this video.
Bernard also gave us an update on Vampires vs. Werewolves: Angels of London, a spiritual successor to Mecho Wars we covered last year. ‘VvW: Angels of London was put on hold, because pixel art won’t look too good on iOS now,” Bernard told us, “and also I had to take up some other projects the past year that you guys should hear about soon.’
Bernard expects game development to wrap up in November, with a December launch date. We’re excited to see what new madness Mr. Bernard has concocted, and will bring you more information on Mecho Wars: Desert Ashes as soon as we hear it.
