Rockstar Games doesn’t release iOS games very often, but when they do, it’s a very big deal. They’ve just announced on their blog that the 2001 PC and console shooter Max Payne will be arriving in the App Store on April 12 (or more likely, the night before, April 11).
Max Payne is a third-person shooter that perfected the use of Matrix-like “bullet time” effects. As you shoot, jump, and roll like a John Woo action hero, you’ll be able to trigger a slowdown mode that gives you extra time to aim. Plus, the game is propelled by a very dark storyline that has Max trying to chase down his family’s killers.
Rockstar says on their blog that the iOS version of Max Payne will be updated with HD graphics, and that it will run on all iPads, and iPhones 3GS and newer. From the screenshots they’ve provided, this port seems like it will receive the same care and attention as Grand Theft Auto 3 and Chinatown Wars. We’ll keep you updated on Max Payne as soon as we hear more.
