The initial sales returns are in for Apple’s next iPhone model, and they are impressive: the House of Jobs moved a million iPhone 3GS devices in its first weekend of sales, matching the debut of the iPhone 3G last summer.
As Fierce Mobile Content’s Jason Ankeny notes, this number is all the more impressive because the 3G launched in 21 markets, while the 3GS has only hit eight so far.
Meanwhile, the iPhone OS 3.0 software update has been downloaded 6 million times since its release last week. Some game developers was spoke to at E3 and WWDC were worried about the transition of the iDevice’s install base to 3.0, but it seems like the process is going quickly.
