June was a very good month for iPad games, with a number of Must Have titles crossing our desks. But the one we’ll be playing for a long time, we’re certain, is the high-definition version of the Tetris-inspired board game, Blokus.
Blokus HD contains a version of the board game that looks amazing on the iPad’s screen, so you can pass it around and play with your friends. But on top of that, it contains a lengthy single-player mode where you have to compete dozens of challenges that will teach you the ins and outs of Blokus.
Our runner-up for iPad GOTM is Meteor Blitz HD, another incredible iPhone game that’s received the premium iPad treatment. Meteor Blitz is a clone of the PS3 shooter Super Stardust HD, but the iDevice version adds a few new twists. You have access to a gravity gun, upgrades are bought instead of picked up, and there’s a constantly-changing high score ranking in the corner of the screen.
Both Blokus HD and Meteor Blitz HD are great additions to your iPad library, even if they are made for very different types of gamers. If you love puzzle/board games or white-knuckled action, these are the ones to buy.
