Today is the big day: iOS 5 has hit iTunes. Unfortunately, not everyone is experiencing a smooth installation process. Many, myself included, have successfully downloaded the update, but it fails to install because of a vague error that stops the progress in its tracks. We asked our Twitter followers if they were having trouble, too, and nearly all of the people who responded said they were seeing similar errors.
iOS 5 is a major update, containing over 200 new features, including a revamped notification system, a Game Center update, wireless syncing, iCloud integration, and many other new features and tweaks. We’re really looking forward to getting our hands on it… if only it would install.
These types of issues are fairly common for launches of popular system updates because of the sheer number of people downloading and installing them at the same time. We’re hoping Apple fixes things on their end quickly.
What about you? Have you had the same trouble downloading iOS 5, or did it install without issue? Let us know in the comments.
