ThinkGeek has just announced a new iCade controller called the 8-Bitty. It’s a retro-style handheld controller that will let you wirelessly play compatible games on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. There’s no word on when the 8-Bitty will be available beyond “later this year,” but buying one will only set you back $24.99. Not bad.
The 8-Bitty is very similar to the iCade iPad arcade cabinet. It will connect wirelessly to your iOS device, meaning you’ll need to prop up your iPhone or iPad somehow when using it. It features a D-pad, four face buttons, start and select buttons, and two shoulder buttons. It requires two AAA batteries to run. But best of all, it’s compatible with all iCade-ready games, including Temple Run, Super Mega Worm, Mos Speedrun, and many more. You can find a list of compatible games in the 8-Bitty’s product description.
Note that this is a separate model from the three upcoming iCades that ION announced at CES earlier this year. To see those, click here.
