‘Hitman: Sniper’ Announced, from the Makers of ‘Hitman Go’

If you enjoyed Hitman Go as much as we did, then you’re in for a pleasant surprise later this year. Square Enix Montreal, the maker of the lovably strange Hitman Go, has announced that it is making a new game for smartphones and tablets called Hitman: Sniper.

So what is Hitman: Sniper? According to the press release, it’s a “a massively competitive sniping game that will focus on the subtlety of execution.” Players will take on contract hits and perform sniping kills in order to snag a spot on the leaderboard. Apparently it plays along similar lines to Hitman: Sniper Challenge, a PC game that was released a few years ago.

The game will be free to download, but will offer in-app purchases to do things like upgrade your gun and unlock new missions. Square Enix Montreal will show off Hitman: Sniper at E3 next week, so keep your eyes peeled for news. If the game reaches the same level of quality as Hitman Go, it should be a blast.

Also included in the announcement is a tidbit saying Square Enix Montreal is also working on additional levels for Hitman Go. So if you’ve played that game (and if you haven’t, you should) you might want to leave it on your device so you can get the extra content when it becomes available.
