Crashlands "Holy Wompits, This is Amazing" - 5/5 from Touch Arcade
Crashlands is simply an excellent game that is a lot of fun to play. Every time I open the game to check something really quickly for this review, I end up playing it for another hour. It’s the most enjoyment I’ve had with any crafting game, and is honestly one of the best games I’ve played on iOS. It’s exceptionally rare for a game that has both open world emergent gameplay and a linear main quest to not drop the ball on one of those things or the other, but Crashlands nails it on all counts. Consider this one an absolute essential.

Pocket Mortys - "You gotta try this, broh" - 4.5/5 from Gamezebo
Anyone familiar with Pokémon will be able to get a feel for the combat pretty quickly. There aren’t 150 Mortys to collect, sadly, but there are over 80 in total and they can be evolved into stronger forms. This is pretty much just as compelling as it was back when we were first introduced to Red and Blue, and there are a lot of really creative looking Mortys to find – even if there’s a lot of overlap in their attack techniques.
As a fan (not super fan, but a fan) of Rick and Morty, as well as a long-time enjoyer of Pokémon, I’ve been having a lot of fun with Pocket Mortys. It strikes a nice balance between making references to the show and being a somewhat simplified “Gotta Cath ‘Em All!” homage. You gotta try this, broh.

Scribblenauts Unlimited draws a 4.5/5 from Gamezebo
Scribblenauts Unlimited almost lives up to its name. Aside from copyrighted material and most specific people (you can summon George Washington but not Elvis), Scribblenauts Unlimited allows players to create anything they can dream up in order to solve the game’s puzzles.
Overall, Scribblenauts Unlimited is an excellent game that is great for all ages that allows players room to play however they’d like — though Scribblenauts Unlimited truly shines when players use their imagination.

Decade old Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories ported to iOS - Perfect 5/5 from Touch Arcade
These games were all phenomenal when they were released, Rockstar knows what they’re doing when it comes to porting them, and it’s hard to beat the price to hours of potential gameplay ratio, particularly when considering you can play a GTA game nearly infinitely if you enjoy just rampaging around the city, getting your wanted level up, and seeing how long you can survive. Of course there’s loads of side quests too, giving you even more to do in a game that’s already packed with content.
If you’re into the idea of playing a GTA game but aren’t sure which one to get, I’d definitely start with San Andreas first. It was designed with the scope of console play in mind, and I think the game world is just a little more interesting. That being said, if you’ve been playing along with every GTA release Rockstar has made on iOS over the years, Liberty City Stories is every bit as must-have as the rest of them.

Touch Arcade gives Aralon: Forge and Flame 4/5
Taken as a complete experience, I enjoyed Aralon: Forge And Flame enough that I made my way through the game in only a few sessions. I can’t say I was completely satisfied in the end, but I had a lot of fun along the way, more than you might expect from my critical breakdown of the game’s various working parts. That’s the way it usually is with this kind of game, though, isn’t it? If you can overlook some flaws that have persisted through this whole line of games from Crescent Moon, you’ll probably enjoy this return to Aralon quite a bit. On the other hand, if you weren’t wowed by their previous efforts, you’ll likely be even less wowed with this game. Forge And Flame is quite good, especially considering its scope, but it’s not quite great.

Skylanders Again Brings Their Whole Console Game to iOS, and this time Apple TV in Skylanders SuperChargers
Activision has once again brought their entire console game for a Skylanders franchise title to iOS and now the new Apple TV. In this edition, evil has taken over and Skylanders must fight via land, sea, and air using an nearly endless list of unique and modifiable vehicles. This edition also includes support for but does not require the Skylanders SuperChargers starter pack, a bluetooth base station that includes a controller, a couple Skylanders characters, and a vehicle. The starter pack is available via Amazon for $69. There are also dozens more additional characters and vehicles available. Additional vehicles and characters are available to purchase in the game without the base station.
On Apple TV, the initial start-up time was about six minutes (will vary greatly based on your home internet speed), which isn’t great. But additional loads were not bad as they seemed to happen in the background as cut scenes were playing. Siri remote support is there, but a controller is pretty much required as the Siri remote support is horrible.
Overall the game is impressive, and well done. It’s a great look at what console developers can do on the Apple TV and iOS. Let’s all hope we will see more like this.

Oceanhorn updated for iOS 9, looks even better than before. (was: Oceanhorn Review)
(editor note: Oceanhorn has recently been updated to take advantage of the latest graphics and speed improvements in iOS 9 and the iPhone 6s. Developers FDG have impressed us not only with the game, but their support of iOS and the updates with just about every iOS update. If you like this kind of open world game, you won’t find better a better one.)
At first glance, Oceanhorn resembles Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, a 2003 Gamecube game which just received an HD re-release on Wii U. The more you play Oceanhorn, the more the similarities stand out. In both games, you play as a young adventurer armed with a sword and shield who sails between islands and conquers dungeons. You’ll also collect bombs, arrows, and pieces of heart containers to improve your offensive and defensive capabilities.
While it clearly uses Zelda as a template, Oceanhorn still feels like an original experience thanks to its excellent visuals and level design. The visual style is wonderfully vibrant, with 3-dimensional isometric levels that are carefully arranged like stacks of building blocks, providing the illusion of depth. Every island and dungeon is a well-crafted maze, with a series of complex puzzles and enemy encounters.
