Robot Circus brings turn based battler Ticket to Earth to mobile
Turn-based grid battler Ticket to Earth is finally out on mobile. I first saw this promising game what seems like a lifetime ago. In Ticket to Earth, the board grid is played like a strategic match-3 game. Connect the tiles to increase / trigger certain powers. The strategy involved is where the player under control ends up. Too close to the bad guys and they will strike. Too far and the player can’t strike them.
Ticket to Earth is a good strategy game that melds a couple styles that work well on mobile together. The game play time is a bit long for a casual player, but just right if you like strategy games and are willing to devote a little time in a play session.

Tetris + Candy Crush Saga = Sorus Shield - Out now on iOS
Sorus Shield is an interesting beast. It has obvious influence from Tetris — but it’s also more of a level based puzzle game like Candy Crush Saga. And it works!
In this game the pieces move from bottom to top and match in the familiar way. The difference being that pieces can move freely when parts of them are matched. This game also riffs on the Tetris model by having multiple varieties of obstacles and variations on the theme that are added as the levels increase.
All in all, Sorus Shield is a fun little game that works really well on mobile.

What if you crossed zombies with match-3 and lane defense? Zombie Match Defense!
This game by Jake Sones is the result of a bet, probably made over multiple drinks, that two over used game genres couldn’t be combined and made to be fun. Jake thought he could do it and I think he has succeeded.
Zombie Match Defense turns out to be a fresh take on match-3 games. With the combination of the two genres some new mechanics pop-up that are cool. The game includes both a map-based progression mode and also mode I prefer, the endless mode which is unlocked after a couple levels. And I think I can honestly say that Zombie Match Defense is the best zombie match-3 lane defense ever made. And it’s also lots of fun.

Colossatron: Massive World Threat Review
Halfbrick Games has developed a reputation for making imaginative mobile games. After all, who would have predicted a game about slicing fruit would become a worldwide phenomenon? Their latest game, Colossatron, lets you witness the destruction of entire continents, but it doesn’t give you as much control as you might like.
In Colossatron, you play as a giant space dragon who has come to an Earth-like planet to devour everything in sight. Unlike in Super Mega Worm, however, you don’t directly control your creature’s path of destruction. Instead, Colossatron is more like Monsters Ate My Condo, a match-3 game where the chaos and explosions are ancillary.
If you don’t mind giving yourself over to Colossatron, who has a mind of its own, this is a fun match-3 game with an exciting destructive twist. It’s not particularly deep, but it does have a lot of creativity and charm– not bad for a world-wrecking mechanical monster from space.
