Many developers have taken to rehashing their games, unchanged, for a native iPad app. However, few of these add new content or change the experience much. Saving Private Sheep HD isn’t like that at all. This port of the Must Have iPhone game brings with it 20 iPad-exclusive levels and takes advantage of the extra real estate.
In our review of the iPhone version, we praised Saving Private Sheep for its personality, addictive gameplay, and great level design. All of this remains in the iPad version. Due to the nature of the ‘gravity puzzle’ genre, the larger playing space offers a better view of the puzzle that makes planning your moves easier.
Suck in that gut, soldier!
This version also includes an extra area with 20 new levels, tailored specifically to the iPad. There isn’t much else to say other than new content is always welcome, especially when the gameplay is so good.
The only downside to this version is the price. While it’s certainly worth $3.99 in our eyes, the iPhone version costs a fourth of that price and plays perfectly fine when pixel-doubled. Sure, you lose out on some of the HD visuals and new levels, but many will be fine with purchasing the iPhone version to save a bit of money.
With a beautiful iPad version, it’s safe to say Saving Private Sheep is the best in its genre. If you have yet to give it a go, now is the time.
