Brave & Little Adventure

A pretty little adventure — Brave & Little Adventure launched

This very well animated adventure game, Brave & Little Adventure will be familiar to Tiny Thief fans. It’s got all the charm of that game and even better graphics.

The story unfolds while playing as little red riding hood through a series of screens filled with puzzles and multiple characters. Each of the levels has one or more puzzles to solve and hidden objects to find. A fun little adventure and very well illustrated.

Tetris + Candy Crush Saga = Sorus Shield - Out now on iOS

Sorus Shield is an interesting beast. It has obvious influence from Tetris — but it’s also more of a level based puzzle game like Candy Crush Saga. And it works!

In this game the pieces move from bottom to top and match in the familiar way. The difference being that pieces can move freely when parts of them are matched. This game also riffs on the Tetris model by having multiple varieties of obstacles and variations on the theme that are added as the levels increase.

All in all, Sorus Shield is a fun little game that works really well on mobile.

True Skate

Flashback Game - skateboarding classic True Skate

True Skate has been around for two and a half years, a lifetime in mobile games. But the cool thing is that it’s still getting upgrades through $0.99 in-app purchased new levels. Unexpected, but very awesome.

In True Skate, the player controls a skateboard with two fingers, making this almost like a music timing game. Each move of the finger, or coordinated moves of two fingers lead to a trick or some sort of control of the board. Don’t worry, it sounds insanely hard, but the tutorial does a good job of guiding new players through the game.

It’s a very fun escape.

Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade

Mech shooter Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade Will Please Many

The latest in the Warhammer super-genre is out in this free to play mech battler. Taking command of an Imperial Knight mech in this shooter / battler is pretty epic. The graphics are pretty good, but the game is not without issue. Then again, what game is?

Mobile-centric bite sized missions and constant upgrades to the mech repeat as the player navigates through an endless set of missions to help retake a planet. It’s a shooter lovers perfect mobile game, that’s for sure. But it left me wondering what if the free to play mechanics weren’t so strong and the game had a stronger story and action focus?

Those with an iPhone 6s or 6s+ can take advantage of 3D Touch to have extra control of the weapons, as shown during the iPhone 6s launch keynote. This game will please many — but I found that the missions were just too short, and the required upgrades too numerous for the game to be enjoyable for me.

King Tongue

Lick This! - King of Tongue out now

They say the tongue is mightier than the sword, and in King of Tongue it’s mightier than much more.

Out now on iOS, King of Tongue is a cross between a platform battler and a rope swinging game. And it’s a blast to play. Tapping on a spot on the screen, the main player’s tongue shoots out and attaches to anything it can. If it’s a stationary object then the player starts going that way. If it’s moveable then the two objects start moving toward each other. Combining these two mechanics to fight the bad guys works out really well. It may sound stupid, but sometimes stupid is just what is needed to make a game fun.

Real Boxing 2 CREED

Rocky Balboa Coaches You in Real Boxing 2 Creed

Vivid Games has released their much anticipated follow up to the awesome Real Boxing. This time round it is branded with the upcoming Rocky franchise spin off, Creed.

The graphics on this game are amazing — partially thanks to the Unreal Engine used. It’s also a very strategic game and not just a button masher like many similar games. Figuring out when to punch, when to guard, and when to charge ahead will be key in conquering this game. Look for open spots and choose the type of punch to fit that hole. Personally, I’m getting destroyed.

Overall a good free to play sports related game, great graphics, a great fit for boxing fans.

Disney Infinity: Toy Box 3.0

Play This: Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Updated for Apple TV

Update (11/11/2015): Infinity 3.0 Edition has been updated on the Apple TV to include the full console game.  I’ll let that sink in for a moment.  The full console game! Senior Producer for Infinity Sean Patton claims the Apple TV version, utilizing Metal, has graphic quality somewhere between the X-box 360 and a PS/4.

This update includes support for a special Bluetooth version of the base station, in Apple TV black even, that’s available starting now at the Apple Store for $99. The starter pack includes the base station, a Steelseries Nimbus MFi controller, Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker characters, and the Twilight of the Republic playset. This also means that all current and former Infinity characters will work with this version.

Note that the Apple TV version is not a Universal version, so please search for “Infinity” in the TV App Store to download.

Oh man, this game is awesome. Some of the best parts of the Infinity 3.0 release — like the Star Wars characters — on iOS! The game works best with an MFi controller, I used the Steelseries Stratus XL. Toy Box is fully there, and many other great gameplay modes to explore. Now I can play everything in Infinity as Yoda. What more can a man-child like me ask?

Super Boys - The Big Fight

Touch Arcade Chooses Super Boys as their Game of the Week

Touch Arcade takes a look at Super Boys – The Big Fight by Mooff Games and awards it game of the week:

Super Boys is set up like a TV show fighting tournament, sort of like Smash TV, with an over-the-top announcer, a studio audience, and fabulous prizes. At first you’ll be confined to the single-player tournament which has you fighting up twenty floors of a massive tower with each floor containing four normal fights followed by a boss fight. Once you’ve beaten the first floor, you’ll be given a second character as a prize, and introduced to the mechanics of setting up and upgrading your own team of fighters.

If you’re a fan of fighting games or any of Mooff’s previous games, give Super Boys a try. It’s free after all. It does have a learning curve, but it’s worth sticking with. Especially make sure you pay attention to upgrading your characters and team stats, otherwise it can feel overly difficult. Once things click though, Super Boys is some of the most fun I’ve had on iOS in some time. Oh, and as an extra little bonus, Mooff’s entire iOS library is free right now, so it’s a good time to stock up on any of their games you might have missed.
