Check Out ‘Prune’ in Action

I can’t believe it, Lonnie actually starts this video without his signature squeaky sign-on “Hi, YouTube!” Once you get past the novelty of that, you can check out him checking out Prune, the gorgeous game about trimming trees so they grow into the light.

Race the Sun Review: Hard to Put Down

We all love a good endless runner now and again, and Race the Sun is exactly that — except with flying. It may start off kind of bare-bones and slow, but once you start unlocking stuff it picks up big time. From 148Apps’s 4-star review:

I honestly wasn’t having much fun with Race the Sun at first, but I’m glad I stuck with it. Things really open up once you start to unlock features that, honestly, should’ve probably been enabled from the start. Still, once you get going it’s difficult to stop.

Angry Birds 2 Review: Same Old Fun, But with Ads

Everyone’s had a chance to dig into the sequel to the most famous mobile game of all time by this point, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive… you know, despite the usual nags of the free-to-play formula. From Gamezebo’s 3.5 star review:

Angry Birds 2 is a free download, so there’s nothing to be lost by giving it a try. But given how little its gameplay varies from classic Angry Birds, you might be better off paying a bit of money to grab the first game. It might seem a little bare-bones in this day and age, but “bare bones” means no lives or level timers. It’s just you, pigs, and physics. Just the way the Mighty Eagle always intended for things to be.

Angry Birds 2 Review: Flawless Feathers

Touch Arcade has strong words of praise for the latest game in the Angry Birds franchise.

Exclusively looking at the gameplay of Angry Birds 2, this is the best Angry Birds yet. Throwing in additional randomization spices things up a bit, the “boss fights” are really neat, and all the other little additions here and there (Like fans, flowers that spit blocks for some reason, and other strange things) make playing the game a ton of fun.

Marvel’s Contest of Champions Grosses over $100M

Marvel’s free-to-play fighting game Contest of Champions is a hit in more ways than one. The title has reportedly garnered over $100 million in in-app purchases since its launch.

Now, it remains to be seen how much of that $100M has gone in to stoking the freemium fires through user acquisition, advertising campaigns, and similar. Knowing how most of these games work, I’m guessing quite a bit.
