Many thanks to Mucho Party for sponsoring Slide To Play this week.

NimbleBit might be at work on a new game, and it looks pretty bitty (as NimbleBit’s games tend to be):
Studio co-founder Dave Marsh has recently started posting images of something called ‘Bit City’ to his Twitter account. When asked about it by a follower, he describes the project as “maybe our 2nd to next project,” stating that they’re already working on something else, and what we’re seeing of Bit City amounts to little more than R&D right now.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s horror games have remained at the top of the mobile sales charts since the series’ conception a year ago. Some people are upset about the success enjoyed by the games’ creator, Scott Cawthon. Cawthon makes a rare address to his fans and haters alike in a Steam post.
I haven’t had a successful life; and now that God has blessed me with some success, I’m doing my best to be responsible with that success. I don’t party on weekends, I don’t get drunk or sip martinis. I spend my evenings playing Megaman 3, buster only, with my kids. And I try to good with what’s been given to me.

Roguelike games are all about random elements, and what’s more random than the vacuum of space? All those cosmic rays and floaty things to deal with…
You’ll be engaging in space combat, clearing sectors, completing objectives, and discovering worlds. It all seems fascinating and I’m curious to go hands-on with it. Battlestation: Harbinger will release for $3.99 without IAP on August 13th.
It’s almost like there’s a factory somewhere, with workers going nonstop, that pumps out Warhammer games 24 hours a day. The latest to hit the App Store is Warhammer: Arcane Magic, a strategy game that looks more like the tabletop version than most of them. From the app’s description:
Assume the roles of famous Warhammer wizards — including Teclis, Balthasar Gelt, and Wurrzag. Use spell cards to fight legendary monsters (such as Harpies, Cygors, and Exalted Bloodthirsters) or mystically have them fight by your side! Win battles to progress through a deep single-player campaign, acquire spells, and take on even more menacing foes. It will take more than courage and strength to defeat enemies conjured by a storm of magic. How far will your skills take you in the search for Arcane Magic?
Thanks to its soft launch in New Zealand, Gamzebo has gotten their hands on Star Wars Uprising, the upcoming Star Wars RPG from Kabam. So far, they like it. From the preview:
As we’d guessed previously, Star Wars Uprising is a Diablo-lite in a familiar universe. Players will control their hero through taps and swipes as they clear
dungeon after dungeonplanet after planet of monsters and villainsdroids and stormtroopers. The combat is a very by-the-numbers affair, but it still manages to be a good time. You’ll have four different moves at your disposal at any time, and perfecting the experience means knowing which skill to use when. For example: when a stormtrooper gets ready to discharge a wide arc of laser fire, I’ll double-tap to dodge/roll to the side, get close enough to knock them back and dizzy them, and then pull back on my hero to unleash a shotgun-style blast of hot laser death.
In this physics-based puzzler, your job is to build an island. From 148Apps’s 3/5 review:
The end result of In Churning Seas‘ less gamey design makes it feel like just that: less gamey. Given the haunting soundtrack, minimalistic aesthetic, and odd crypitc messaging between rounds, this seems very much intentional. The problem with this, though, is that it can feel a bit too random – and as a result, more frustrating.
From what I hear, Agar.io is a game all the kids are crazy about, even though (or because) you can name yourself any word you want, regardless of its R-rated-ness. From Touch Arcade’s 4.5 out of 5 star review:
Agar.io is described as an “MMO,” but it’s a lot more arcade-like in nature. You’ll start off as a single, solitary cell — yep, as in, a microscopic organism. Your objective is to simply absorb smaller cells, grow in size, and live as long as you possibly can. If you happen to get absorbed, it’s game over, and you’ll start over from the beginning. I’m leaving out the major gimmick of course, in that most of those other cells that you are eating and being eaten by are actually other players. Hence, the “massively multiplayer” part. As you’d expect, things can get extremely hectic and competitive being surrounded by a constant sea of players.
