Renowned board / card game Lost Cities is on sale for $1.99 USD, down from $3.99 USD. The city may be lost, but this deal is way out in the open. Ha!
As this excellent video from AppSpy points out, Angry Birds 2 provides a perfect example of how game design has changed to influence the purchase of in-app purchases, and vice-versa.
Many thanks to Mucho Party for sponsoring Slide To Play this week.
Mucho Party is a local multiplayer party game that now includes 40 mini games. Bud don’t fret if it’s a party of one — Mucho Party includes three different AI levels for single play. The mini games includes in each round can be chosen in 6 different ways ensuring lots of variety or allowing the players to pick their favorite mini games.
This latest update also takes the game to free to download allowing players to try before they buy. Five of the 40 games are included for free with the other 35 easily unlocked via one single in-app purchase.

Marvel’s free-to-play fighting game Contest of Champions is a hit in more ways than one. The title has reportedly garnered over $100 million in in-app purchases since its launch.
Now, it remains to be seen how much of that $100M has gone in to stoking the freemium fires through user acquisition, advertising campaigns, and similar. Knowing how most of these games work, I’m guessing quite a bit.

After buckling down for the review, Pocket Gamer has resurfaced with some helpful hints for anyone looking to maximize their gameplay in Angry Birds 2. From the article:
Angry Birds 2 is not your average Angry Birds game. We’d normally provide video guides that show you how to finish every level in the game. But for this installment, most of the stages are randomly generated. So! If you want to get better at Angry Birds 2, a traditional guide won’t help you. You can’t learn the levels – you must learn the game. You must master the way of the bird. And that’s what we’re here for.
Check out these tips to save money, beat the piggies, and generally be a brilliant human being.

Angry Birds 2 is out in the wild now, and it’s a very good game. Now if only it didn’t have all those pesky free-to-play trappings… From Pocket Gamer’s 7/10 review:
Angry Birds 2 isn’t perfect, but it does manage to capture that elastic playfulness that made the original such an essential download. Does it earn its place as the first numerical sequel? It’s hard to say, and it all depends how you like your energy systems. But one thing’s for sure, in terms of scope, creativity, and sheer quality, the game underneath the hearts and currencies is Rovio the developer at its best.

We’re big fans of the To-Fu series, and the latest entry looks like it delivers more of the goods. From 148Apps’s 3.5 out of 5 star review:
To-Fu Fury does a fairly good job of gradually introducing all these elements, so it’s not too tough early on, but it soon gets there. Each level offers a series of objectives too in the form of a timer, par number of moves, and a gem tracker, each rewarding you for doing things most efficiently. That’s whenTo-Fu Fury gets quite tricky, as simply passing a stage isn’t too hard. It’s also where things turn more rewarding and To-Fu Fury soon turns quite appealing. You’ll end up playing stages multiple times, but still feel like you’re progressing, given you have different aims each time. The most satisfying moments are when you finish a level having used just one more, but that’s often the trickiest technique.
The latest scare-fest in this series about killer animatronics is yet another winner, from the sounds of it, as long as you can hear the game’s audio clearly. From Gamezebo’s 4 out of 5 star review:
Unlike past games, there are no security cameras to monitor in Five Nights at Freddy’s 4. Instead, you play as a scared child who must run between his doors, closet, and bed constantly to keep monstrous versions of the animatronics at bay (seriously – Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Freddy are particularly terrifying this time around).
The Birds are back in town, and man are they furious. Angry Birds 2 ripped onto the scene today, and it was downloaded over a million times within twelve hours.
First of all, this game is free, unlike the original Angry Birds proper and its many spinoffs in the main series. As any mobile developer will tell you even getting a large number of people to download your game for FREE can be a daunting task, but the point here is that there’s no barrier of entry to Angry Birds 2, so of course people will be downloading it like crazy.
Do aliens drive you crazy? They’re not the best neighbors, after all. They dump protoplasm on your lawn and siphon your natural resources. Well, now’s a good time to exact some sweet revenge with Aliens Drive Me Crazy, which is currently free-to-play. It used to cost $1.99 USD.
