Zoombinis Review – “edutainment at it’s most adorable”- Touch Arcade

Zoombinis is a port from days of old and it’s ticking all kinds of memories for some. Touch Arcade notes:

In terms of its visual style, Zoombinis holds up rather well on paper, as the characters are all full of life and of course, timelessly cute. However, much like the gameplay, the animations are severely dated, and not even this mobile re-release can make them shine. Even all of the screenshots I’ve taken, despite their high resolution, look washed out and like a relic of the past.

If you have a child or an open mind for a edutainment, Zoombinis is worth checking out — just know that time doesn’t heal all wounds.

Sage Solitaire – “A refreshingly new approach to Solitaire” – Gamezebo

Sage Solitaire gets a very solid 4.5/5 from Gamezebo. And I couldn’t agree more. It’s the new release that has taken most of my free time this past weekend.

Solitaire and its many variations have been entertaining players for more than 200 years. Sage Solitaire is just the latest twist in the genre, and, like Pair Solitaire, it’s not hard to see how much fun it could be with a real deck of cards. I suppose that’s the hallmark of a real solitaire game: despite its digital debut, Sage Solitaire has the potential to grow well beyond the borders of a touch screen.

Pocket God vs. Desert Ashes Review – Touch Arcade gives it 3.5/5

TA takes a look at the new Pocket God vs. Desert Ashes turn based RPG and gives it a solid 3.5 noting:

It’s all fun enough to play, and you can certainly sink a lot of time into it if you get into the swing. The maps are well-designed, and if you can find someone to play multiplayer with, you’ll get plenty of thrills. Taken as a single-player experience, I’m not sure if it’s going to be for everyone. There’s only one difficulty setting, and I suspect it’s too easy for most experienced strategy fans, while perhaps being a little too hard for newcomers lured in by the Pocket God name.

The Sandbox has had tons of great updates. We hear that The Sandbox 2 may be coming soon??? They’ve almost run out of update numbers now — this one is 1.99990. From 148Apps:

Another month, another update to Pixowl’s The Sandbox. This time players can say hello to “Cutethulu” – an adorable little rendition of perhaps the most well known (and infamous) of the Elder Gods.

Will the next Apple TV support Games and Controllers? All signs point to yes.

Could the App Store for Apple TV finally be here? Seems like the noise surrounding it has risen to a fever pitch just before the Apple event next week. 9to5Mac seems to think it’s a sure thing. They have outlined the plans for an App Store, games, and support for bluetooth controllers (like those already supported on iOS).

We hope it’s true, finally, that this is happening. I’ve seen how good Android gaming can be on a NVIDIA Shield Android TV (it’s my main console now). With the support of the App Store developers, non-consoles or unconsoles like the Apple TV may really take off. 9to5Mac is expecting the updated Apple TV to be $149-199. We’ll see next week.

Real Racing 3 Goes NASCAR with Sprint Cup Series and Richmond International Raceway

Real Racing 3 is adding NASCAR cars and races to it’s ever expanding arcade racing game today. With the update players will be able to take a 700 hp NASCAR racing care around the Richmond International Raceway. The update includes the ability to:

· Drafting: when a car sits behind another car which creates less drag and hence increases their speed
· Slingshot passing: when you use drafting to gain momentum to overtake another car
· Navigating around a pack: with so many cars on the track, players will need to learn the best time to pass, cut in front of, or draft their opponents to win

First Trailer for “Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes” from EA Released – shows it’s more than just a CCG

Back at E3, EA teased a collectible card game set in the Star Wars galaxy, but showed just a couple title and character stills. Touch Arcade brings us the first trailer and it shows that it’s more than just a CCG, though we know no further details — the action sequences could be just canned fight scenes. .Decluster Zero: Bullet Nocturne Review: “One of the best bullet hell shooters”

Bullet hell shooters are tough to get right, in that you want them to be challenging but not too challengin. This unusually punctuated one threads the needle nicely. From the 4.5 star review from 148Apps:

That’s the beauty behind .Decluster Zero: Bullet Nocturne. There’s so much going on when it comes to learning when to use your homing laser, when to activate charge mode, and so forth. A written tutorial makes things sound a little confusing but practice makes perfect here, with .Decluster Zero: Bullet Nocturne offering a varied selection of difficulty modes that really do make a difference. It’s a real delight.

The Walking Dead: Road to Survival Review – Worth Surviving For

Like most fare set in the Walking Dead Universe, Walking Dead: Road to Survival is a high-quality game, according to Gamezebo.

Overall, while The Walking Dead: Road to Survival is centered on the usual mode of delivery for mobile strategy games, the campaign gave me an engaging enough story and the combat was rewarding enough to where I feel comfortable saying that Road to Survival is a strong step in the right direction for the genre.
