Game of the Month, May 2013: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

The streak continues: May was yet another great month for iOS gamers. If you wanted a summer camp adventure or a retro shooter, you needed to look no further than the nearest iOS device. But it was a particularly great month for ports. Our favorite game in May was an iPad port of a bonafide classic, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

    kotor-2a

Not only is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic one of the best Star Wars games ever made and one of the best Star Wars stories ever told– give that a second to sink in– but it’s also high up on the list of best RPGs ever made, period.

Knights of the Old Republic takes place 4,000 years before the events of the movies. You play as a Jedi master in a battle against a Sith army. Your character suffers from amnesia, and as you progress you piece together your past and begin to head either toward the Light Side or the Dark Side. It’s a full, epic 30-hour adventure, and Aspyr has done a fantastic job bringing it to the iPad.

    warhammer-quest-2a

Our runner-up for Game of the Month is Warhammer Quest, an iOS version of a board game of the same name. Warhammer Quest, developed by Rodeo Games, the makers of the Hunters series, puts you in the boots of a team of adventurers as they move from town to town, going on quests and collecting sweet, sweet loot.

Congratulations to Rodeo Games and Aspyr for making two of our favorite iOS games last month! For more Must Have games released in May, check out Combo Crew, Poker Night 2, Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery: Episode 1, Frozen Synapse, Tasty Tadpoles, Gun Commando, Haunted Hollow, Sorcery!, and Draw Something 2.
